Snow & Soul

It is snowing heavily. I developed an aversion to snow having lived in Manhattan and upstate New York for almost two decades, where snowfall was a regular occurrence. I used to walk daily for an hour back and forth between our antique shop and home. It was brutal because the snowflakes were icy cold and big; I could feel the heaviness as they dropped onto my body.

Kyoto city was not known to have snow but this winter has been unusual. I cringe as I prepare to go out while putting on my winter armor. Then, Ko mentions that perhaps this time I will have a different experience. His blessing comes true as I walk downhill; suddenly I witness a different scene - fluffy and gentle snowflakes! Although it is snowing heavily, I do not feel weighed down at all. On the contrary, I feel light; it is as if I become part of the snow. And in a split second, I have this euphoric moment that my physical body fades away, leaving only my awareness.

Almost immediately, my inner eye reveals the moment when I took the plunge and descended to mother Earth. I was this stardust which resembled the snowflake, floating in mid-air, with tens of thousands of other stardusts. It is amazing how we spaced ourselves out organically and never crashed into each other! As we reached the ground, we instantaneously take on the form of a human.

This flashback is so powerful I have to stop walking to gather myself. Then, I see a car plate 999; I realize that I return ‘home’ in that moment. I recall the exact same sensation from watching the movie “Soul”, where the souls flew down from the higher realm to the Earth. I am in awe with how I got here from when I was just a soul without any bodies – physical, emotional and mental.

I spend the entire day reflecting on my soulful experiences. Over 60 years have gone by and I could still feel this soul-transforming moment. It was my pure intention of divine love coupled with sheer will and determination that I had ended up here. I have learned and evolved significantly over these years, yet my soul has remained true to my heart’s resonance. On my way walking home, I see a car plate 9999. I find my way through life to the epiphany.

We are all one and one is in all.
